Nature lovers can enjoy a wealth of biodiversity amidst walking trails and breathtaking panoramic views.

Trevélez, Granada

Local history and culture

Trevélez is a white Alpujarran village with a typical Andalusian aesthetic, located in the province of Granada, high up in the mountains in the well-known area of the Alpujarra. With a population of around 900, it is a charming and hospitable haven.

Its roots go back to Moorish times, which is reflected in the Berber architecture with its whitewashed houses, horizontal “tejaos” and narrow cobbled streets.

Trevélez is best known for its exquisite Serrano ham, a product that has been made here for centuries using techniques handed down from generation to generation. Trevélez received the Royal Seal from Her Majesty Queen Isabel II in 1862 to stamp on the hams produced in this high mountain area at the foot of the Sierra Nevada.

Its traditional ham, its rich agriculture and its exquisite Alpujarran and Mediterranean gastronomic heritage make it a wonderful place to enjoy a wide variety of delicious dishes.

Don’t miss this place where nature, culture and gastronomy come together for a unique experience.
