HISTORY
Trevelez,
situated at 1600 m, is Spain's highest village. It is located below
the peninsula's highest mountain peak, the Mulhacén
(3481 m), in the heights of a long deep valley.

Many
colourful traditional celebrations occur during the summer. For
that, this is the best season to visit the region.
The 13th of June, Saint Anthony Day, Trevelez population re-enacts the last battles between Moors and Christians
that took place in the village in the late 1560's.

The 5th of August,
many people coming from the whole area still make the annual
pilgrimage, Romería de la Virgen de las Nieves, up to the summit of Mulhacén by foot or
by horse. The starting point is the church next to the restaurant
La Fragua.

For its location, Trevelez is ideal as a starting point to discover the Alpujarras,
especially for hiking and cycling.

are famous all over the world for their moist texture and sweet
flavour.).
